David Ortiz 'Limited Edition' Print Not So Limited
My bosses at FenwayNation have asked me to look into the claim that tonight's Fenway Park "giveaway" is—in fact— a limited edition. Here's what the Red Sox say: "The first 15,000 fans in attendance will receive an exclusive canvas print of David Ortiz commemorating his remarkable and historic Red Sox career." OK, let's break this down with cold, hard statistics—the way I like it. First of all, as everyone knows, there are more "exclusive canvas prints" than the 15,000 that are supposedly being given to those lucky fans. Scores of "insider" employees at the park get their paws on these if they want—so there are probably thousands more than the '15,000' on hand. So, just how limited does this make the 'print'? Well, let's put it this way: if it were hanging in the Gardner Museum, no one would want to steal it. 'Nuf Ced.
